I love that tune.... but hate that sexual orientation!

Greetings loves! I've been trying to set aside the time and write out my thoughts and the opportunity has finally presented itself. Today, I hope to publish a few posts and catch everyone up. Feel free to comment!

My first post has to do with one of the hottest songs out right now.. In my opinion... Sure Thing by Miguel.

I first heard this song about a month ago and I fell in love with the tune. In Lafayette, where I attended college, there is no hip hop and R&B station. So when I return home to Indianapolis, I hear on the radio songs that are new to me and very catchy. Not to mention the radio plays the same songs all day long. Days pass and I hear the song more and more, start learning the word, Youtube the song and I tell you I'm just in a constant jam session.

Here is the video so you can see what I'm talking about.

Hot song right? Well anyway, one day I was listening to HOT 96.3, Indianapolis' Hip Hop and R&B station when on of the hosts announces that later on they will be discussing Miguel and his response to allegations of him being gay.
...

FRUSTRATED is not the word. I just don't understand why some man's sexual orientation is A) important for his fans and potential fans to know B) in anyway a stranger's business C) so important when talking about music.

I could honestly care less. The song is HOT!! I love it! But what is the infatuation with singling out Gays that we Americans have? I understand sexuality can be a taboo subject but seriously? Lets be realistic. Miguel is a singer that I will probably never meet. Even if I were to meet him there is a very small chance that I would ever have relations with him. Therefore, it is not pertinent nor relevant information for me to know about him.
And that goes for the other Americans interested in his music, its none of our business.

The sad thing is, these type of discussions can actually harm his career and the 'hyper-masculine' male will shy away from his music as not to be associated with something gay. Even people who are anti-gay won't want to listen to his music. The thing is..his sexual orientation in fact has NO bearing on his signing abilities! If you are a true lover of music, that wouldn't matter to you.

Oh, and the icing on the cake: Miguel denies the accusations. Good for him! But why should he have to? In this interview below, Miguel says that he loves Women and always has.

I guess I just have a problem with people discriminating when it comes to sexual orientation. I understand if you don't want to date them, but if the situation has nothing to do with dating the person.. why are we talking about it? Someone please inform me.
